In celebration of the release of his Please Turn Me Into The Snat(today's featured release) Connan Mockasin has also just announced a four date national tour which will see Connan performing around New Zealand with his multi talented band that includes Sam Eastgate (from top UK electro pop act Late of the Pier), Elroy Finn and Will Ricketts (The Phoenix Foundation).

2010 marks the release of Edwin Derricutt's second full-length solo album Three Hours South and follows up on his very successful independent debut release Symmetry (2006). To celebrate the release of "Three Hours South" he will be doing a series of FREE showcase shows in groovy and intimate venues the length of the country in March.

Also hitting the road in March is singer songwriter Josephine Constain.

This intimate tour will see her re-create her unique solo-sound. Using her beloved electric & acoustic guitars, an assortment of percussion and loop pedal, Josephine promises to play favorites from her debut EP 'Live at St. Mathews-In-The-City,'- but it's new tracks from her forthcoming album that Josephine is especially excited about.

Josephine recently returned from an inspirational tour of the USA, where she studied songwriting at Berklee College of Music and toured America; capturing hearts in Nashville, San Francisco and New York. She sites this trip as the inspiration for the direction of her new band driven material.

We'll have a free download from Josephine kicking off Thursday.

For those who follow the digital world the Section 92A bill was introduced to Parliament yesterday, Scoop has the details here.

Release Of The Day
Connan Mockasin - Please Turn Me Into The Snat

Written and recorded over the past 18 months, from East Sussex in the UK
to an abandoned haunted house in Wellington, Please Turn Me Into The Snat introduces the listener to the amazing world of Connan Mockasin, from cats with larger-than-life personalities and unicorns in uniform to alter egos like Don Dicaprio.

Somewhere between fantasy and reality, innocence and wisdom, pop music and an art form as yet unnamed, is the world of Connan Mockasin.

Chart Attack

It took 18 weeks of waiting in the wings and this week Gin takes out the number one spot! Congratulations.

Stan Walker drops slightly to four and Shapeshifter bounce up to 16 with Dave Dobbyn just behind them at 17.

Dobbyn, Finn & Runga's Together Live in Concert is at number 22 with Fat Freddy's at number 34.

I assume the radio programmers and pluggers are back to work as this week we start to see some new action from the locals in the singles chart.

In the top ten Stan Walker's Black Box moves up a spot to number two, Dane Rumble is at five with Cruel and J Williams feat Scribe is at nine.

There are new entries from Kids Of 88 at 13 Nesian Mystik's Sun Goes Down debuts at 33. Last entry is Gin with I Do at 37.

The Great NZ Songbook is at number seven this week in the compilation chart, is there anyone who doesn't own this yet, other than myself?
