Phoenix Foundation & Thomas Oliver Band To Play Free Concert In Dunedin

The Phoenix Foundation and The Thomas Oliver Band are teaming up for a not-to-be-missed double billing at Dunedin's Urban Factory for a free show as part of the REAL New Zealand Festival. The event is scheduled for Thursday 8 September.
With acclaimed gold albums and movie soundtracks to their name, as well as recent rave reviews in Europe, The Phoenix Foundation are one of New Zealand's most innovative and respected bands.
From intelligent and infectiously catchy pop/rock gems, to epic, psychedelic prog rock, The Phoenix Foundation's music is a glorious pop polyglot: sun-bleached harmonies, chiming guitars, progressive synth-scapes and subliminal rhythms, combined at the service of consistently high-grade song-writing, yet the result never sounds like anyone else.
The Thomas Oliver Band have a completely unique and unrivalled sound which is a culmination of blues, rock, country and roots music, with inflections of folk and alt-pop.
Their fresh instrumentation including lap-slide guitar, double bass and baritone saxophone, along with Oliver's compelling writing style, create a sound which is absolutely unique and unequalled in New Zealand.
Both bands are acclaimed for their dynamic live shows and musical journeys on stage. Together, these things are undeniably a complete live experience - and this is what Dunedin will be privileged to take in.
