Black Brown and White

Black Brown and White

The new Tahuna Breaks single is the title track off their their forthcoming album.

Lead singer and guitarist Marty Greentree describes this song as...basically our version of the blues. Its purposely sparse and stripped back, not overcrowded with instruments and other melodic embellishments so that you get a real sense of space, loneliness and vulnerability. We swapped it around so that the guitar sings and is the storyteller in this song and the vocals are there to support the message of the guitar. At its core it is blues/soul music, about honest reflection, self-examination and the pain of being alone...

Discuss Tahuna Breaks

Current Discussion:

  • Black Brown and White is, im my opinion an outstanding album. Its a well balanced album. Skank a bit, grove a bit and chill to some of the beatiful slower songs. Im struggling to pick a stand out sond as they are all excellent in their own right but i would have to say that the re-working of Crisis Situation from their first album is clever and sounds amazing. Sophies Lullaby would be hard to gloss over...it will give you a shiver down your spine in a good way. Saw the live show in Tauranga which was cool, my only gripe is i wish that bands would release their albums before they tour so we know what we are singing and bopping along to, but hey, thats just personal preference. Great job Tahuna Break, thoroughly impressive and definately one of my favourites over the last few years. Catch you again over summer I hope!

  • This is a great album. So many of the songs have such great hooks. I saw the show in Tauranga last week and they are just one of the best live bands around.
